A lovely sunny day exploring some of the UBC campus

They were pruning trees yesterday so to avoid the noise and to get out in the wonderful sunshine we went for a walk in our hood.  We began at Mahoney's for a happy hour beer then went to the "Nest" which is the new Student Union Building.  Wow...what fabulous and airy architecture!  Certainly a change from the old SUB which was like a bunker.  A super place for students to hang out.

Then we explored the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre.  It is also a wonderful example of architecture and they had a super information desk where we found out the location of a lecture we want to attend tonight is about a 5 min. walk from where we live.  The lecture is by a famous academic, Margaret MacMillan (who wrote Paris 1919) and it is on The Great War.

This is a grand "player" piano and was playing Dave Brubeck.

And then we got a latte from their bistro with Irish whiskey and sat out in the sunshine.

There are free campus tours which I'm sure would be very interesting since so much has changed for us at UBC since we were students.  I see there are free yoga classes too.
