Great sunset tonight....storm coming in.

Just used my iPhone for these.

Enough cats already....so I've been told...

So,  for those readers who want to follow the cats at Catfé,  these are links to Facebook,  Twitter, and Instagram.  They are "public" links so you don't have to be a member of any of these social media to access them.    The Instagram link is probably the best for lots of photos of the cats.

Cabin Fever

Feeling better yesterday so went to the Tram Visitor Centre to see if they had any interesting new books on Mid-Century Modern stuff and then wandered around the Uptown Design District for a while.  I didn't buy anything but it's fun to look at all this stuff and it just may inspire some paintings.

I never tire of seeing this Albert Frey building which was originally a gas station.

Mary,  I think you would enjoy these funky garden ornaments!  I particularly liked the ladybug.

Healing soups

I like to have a big pot of homemade soup around when I have a cold.  It's makes an easy lunch or dinner and often all I want to eat.  Even if I can't taste that much,  at least I'm getting lots of good veggies and I can enjoy the textures.   I had made Autumn soup lately and I really enjoy a soup with cabbage.  This is about the only way I eat cabbage.  It is great in a soup.  I used this recipe which called for Italian sausage.  In both this soup and my all time favourite "Autumn Soup".   The recipes call for a pound of meat.  I usually use about 1/3 of a pound.  You could do without the meat completely but I feel a little adds flavour and provides some protein.

Well....not a cat today...

I think it's time to make a visit to The Living Desert...haven't been there for a while.  Hopefully,  I'll be over this nasty cold soon.  Went to a clinic yesterday and was prescribed antibiotics,  cough syrup, and an inhaler.

From the Desert Sun:

The Zoo's female giraffe, Dadisi, gave birth to a male calf last Wednesday.
The little guy doesn't yet have a name, but weighed in a 130 lbs,  and stands 5 feet 9 inches in tall.
Allen Monroe, President & CEO of the Living Desert said, "While we are always excited to announce the birth of new babies here at The Living Desert, it is especially wonderful to welcome our first baby of 2016, a beautiful giraffe calf."
He's expected to go on display on Friday.

Catfé

Oh, Baby! Guess who was adoption #22! Baby has moved out of her cat tree apartment and into her forever home. We'll miss this lady, who started out so shy and ended up taking over customers' laps for hours at a time, not letting them leave.

Tammy the boss arrived yesterday and immediately began scampering about the cat lounge. She now owns the place.

Catfé up to adoption #21

You can see all the photos of the cats here.

My doves are back!

I've been missing the doves and figured they found a new home but I heard them this morning.  I went out to see if I could see them but no luck there.  Just amazed at how many oranges we still have on our tree.  We've had fresh juice for almost two months now.

Easy for You Seafood from Ralph's

I was really impressed with this free service from Ralph's.  You pick a seafood,  seasonings and herbs,  lemon or lime and they put it in a bag that you bake in the oven.  The fresh wild cod looked the best so I bought that and chose fresh dill since that was recommended.  We had it last night and it was excellent and absolutely no fuss.

They have a brochure that that also gives suggestions for side dishes and wine pairings.  They suggest "Sweet Bourbon or Fresh Cilantro" with salmon so may go for that next.

Someone did a nice blog post with great photos....a few I posted.

La Quinta today...

Almost nothing at La Quinta Library for books....I did get Copeland's "All Families are Psychotic" for a dime.  But Jim did very well at Cathedral City Library Saturday.  Got some of the "Great Courses" for 25 cents.  Admittedly,  they are on cassette...anyone have an old cassette player?  Just fun picking up this stuff.  All these books will go back to the libraries at some point.

We went to the Grill on Main Street and Jim had a burger...a different one this time,  the Cochella Burger.  I think this is new on the menu.  Peppered bacon (yum),  blue cheese and date relish.  Wonderful combination of flavours...I got a bite.  I had my usual calamari.

They have an olive oil store there with lots of neat things....I almost bought some provençale   napkins.

Could be somewhere in France....

Lumiere London 2016

London really does it up with lights in the darkest months of the year.   They begin wonderful Christmas light displays in November (in 2010 we were there and got to see them...fabulous!) and they now have this festival in January.

I've posted a few photos but really worth taking a look at all of them.
