We had our usual at Bill's...half Baby Z's and half Christine Rocker. Then to Peninsula Bakery for a demi baguette and a pain au chocolat. They are closed Tues and Wed now and taking it a bit easy. I can see the owners are more relaxed already...good on them!
We went to our old pool in the morning. No one else was there. I was curious to see if Erna and Marvin's bougainvillea was thriving (it had to be cut back a lot when the exterior painting was done) and coming across our shared patio wall. We so enjoyed that. I was surprised to see that every single plant in their front and back patio was gone. Not even a leaf of grass. It's even more zen like than ours was. At least we had various decorative pieces. They are snowbirds and I can understand why they want low maintenance. It will be interesting to see what and if they add anything.
We went to our old pool in the afternoon and met Ken (our wonderful neighbour who looked after our place) and also the new owner of Erna and Marvin's place and their friend who also owns and got them into buying. Both couples are from Huntington Beach and have known each other for years. We had a great converation with everyone. The Huntington Beach couples don't use their places much. The friends who have owned for a long time told us that Peter Falk (Columbo) had a place in Canyon Sands in the early days.
