Even though I was a pioneer in all this and was so excited by what the Internet (not called that then), I could never could have imagined what the current reality is. I was very upsset when the "net" was allowed to have commercial content. I doubt people would actually believe now that it was just for educational and of course mililary use. The Amerian military began it all.
The internet has taken a lot of forms over the years. It began with the development of ARPANET ( Advanced Research Project Agency Network) which was funded by DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency) for the sole purpose of having a defense network that could function in the time of a nuclear war.
