I am amazed how much at home, real home, I feel here in this apartment and in this neighbourhood. Perhaps it's because I'm looking out at trees and in our three homes in Victoria we overlooked trees. Perhaps because it's a "real" neighbourhood and the people you hear passing by chatting are people who live here as opposed to the people on Beach Avenue and the seawall who are primarily tourists and visitors from other parts of the city. It's like the conversations you would hear in our homes in Victoria....neighbours, not visitors.
Jim is having a rest, thank goodness. He was determined to unpack all the books and get them on the shelves. I told him he should pace himself more and not worry about it but you can't tell men anything it seems.
It's my birthday today and we're heading out to the Adesso Bistro for dinner which is just a couple of blocks away. It will now be a local haunt. We did go there a number of years ago (different name I think although still an Italian focus) when we first had our pied a terre in Vancouver. We had a fabulous meal sitting out on their wonderful terasse. It won't be a night for outdoor dining tonight.
