Amazing dinner at Adesso

This will certainly become a favourite haunt,  rain or shine,  winter or summer.  Very cosy inside almost like a British pub and of course their outdoors is fabulous too.

Can't seem to get my photos off my phone and the interior ones I tried to pick  up from the Internet didn't load...ah well.

We got their prix fixe 3 course menu with wine pairings and started off with a glass of prosceco and I ended with Irish coffee and Jim,  Spanish coffee.   Our server,  a great guy from New Zealand,  suggested Bushmills for the Irish rather than Jameson's and it was really great.  The dinner was excellent  although it wasn't what was in their website so I guess they don't keep that updated.

There were two choices for "antipasto" (appetizer) and "secondi" (main course) and one for dessert so we got one of everything and shared.   Our server knew we were going to do this so he brought us each the wine for each course...so four glasses of wine on the table for each of the first two courses.  That was a nice touch!

The first was a fried olives in parmesan with some rocket salad and the other was an excellent salad with cheese shavings and cured ham.  The olives were amazingly good too.  I particularly liked the Barbera wine choice.

The second was mackerel  and a veal lasagne with porcini mushrooms.  I began with the mackerel and it was to die for.   The wine was a Kettle Valley Pinot Grigio which was pink like rosé (they leave some of the grape skin on....perfect pairing)  I couldn't really judge the lasagne after that.  Jim was lucky to get any of the mackerel!  It should be on the prix fixe for a couple of weeks so I think we need a return visit with Richard and Grace.

Dessert was poached pear,  berries,  and whip cream....amazing whip cream.

Now,  to read the paper and it's so great not to be looking at boxes in the living room.  Thank you,  Jim!
