French Newspapers

In Carol's email to me today she mentioned the importance of visuals in blogs:

"Doing this has certainly brought home the importance of visuals, even more than when I was in the biz. Somehow this format requires something along with the words."

I believe this is absolutely true and love most newspapers of the world partly because they do this and yet Le Monde, the major French newspaper and highly respected in the world, along with Le Figaro  are very imageless and not even a record of news.  They are filled with intellectual debates about the issues of the times.  And most French who have an education have them prominently displayed on their coffee table.   It's as if to say,  "Yes,  we are intellectuals".

Ah...give me the British newspapers, The Guardian or The Telegraph for a good read,  entertainment,  and a real glimpse into British life.  The French newspapers (except for local newspapers like the Var-Matin) are giving a very narrow view of French culture.

Now,  isn't this front page just something you would love to dive into!  However,  with all the "noise" and garbage on Twitter,  Facebook,  blogs,  etc.  I may begin to look fondly at this format.
