A historic Palm Desert house with a one-of-a-kind roller coaster roof made of wood was sold at auction Saturday to Los Angeles-based Stayner Architects for $360,000.
Father and son architects, Gilbert and Christian Stayner – and the firm’s principal owners – said they bought the house to restore it, a commitment Palm Desert city leaders and historical society members had hoped from the top bidder.
