Like many cities Vancouver had a system of trams that provided great rapid transit for the time. The Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society has restored some of these and you can take a trip on one on weekends in the summer. We were going to do this with Linda and Cec today but the tram doesn't have rail access today so hopefully next Sunday we'll be able to do it.

These trams have a special meaning to me because my Dad worked as a conductor on them and I remember riding them frequently to get downtown from where we lived in Vancouver which was just on the boundary between Vancouver and Burnaby close to Kingsway. A lot faster way to get downtown than the bus and a lot more fun!
