Huxley now in Sanary

I'm reading letters now in 1930 when the Huxleys were in our favourite part of the world and where he wrote "Brave New World". He has recently reflected that perhaps all we should be doing in this life is bathing and sitting in the sun...not a wholly bad idea. It's nice to think of the south of France after going through the coldest March on record. Next year we'll be in Palm Springs in March...good plan I think. However, the south of France can get pretty cold as well as Huxley writes:

"The City of Flowers (Florence) was 6 inches deep in snow, 15 degrees below zero, every water pipe frozen, the Arno a solid mass of ice, etc. etc. But the cold was nothing we met on the Riviera, where a "mistral" or "bise" or what not, was blowing continuously at 70 miles an hour in the midst of snow and ice."

Some photos of the south of Sanary in better weather just for old times sake.
