Lulu's with the Peckfords for dinner yesterday

This was the first time we had been at Lulu's this season and we went for their early dinner three course special for $16.95.   Wonderful food and a great deal.  The portions were amazingly large. Jim and I started with the Vicychoisse which was quite filling and they served a huge piece of tilapia. Jim was served an equally huge amount of chicken picatta. I could only eat half of it so this will be lunch today.  I did manage dessert.  Carol had the tilapia too and commented that she had never been served such a large portion either.

It was a very fun evening with everyone telling lots of stories.  A bonus of meeting new people is that you know you aren't repeating yourself!

It was interesting hearing about Charles and Diana's visit to Newfoundland in 1983.  Since he was premier at the time, Brian was with them for about a week and was impressed by how down to earth they were and also very impressed with  Charles' knowledge of Newfoundland and its current issues.  He had been very thoroughly briefed and seemed genuinely interested and said he had read the book Brian published that year on Newfoundland.

There are quite a few YouTube videos of the visit if you google it.  I can't seem to make a link to them.

Diana also opened up to Brian about her problems with her role.  In a newspaper at the time this quote appeared when I googled this royal visit.

"In Newfoundland, she explained to Premier Brian Peckford: “I am finding it very difficult to cope with the pressures of being Princess of Wales.”
