I felt very energetic this morning and since there were no more copies of the Desert Sun in our local newspaper box, I went to Von's to buy one and also picked up the LA Times which we will read tomorrow if we can't get a paper. Now, Jim was so looking forward to his newspaper so he really owes me one. A very sweet lady let me go ahead of her at the check out so no big deal. Jim tried to get the paper going for tomorrow but no luck. Last year he actually had to visit the physical office.
Well, we got reading the paper then finding various things to organize, clean, etc. so didn't get out for a swim until after 12pm. Jared, Erna's son was visiting with a friend, Randi, and she immediately offered us a glass of wine while we were swimming...now, this is extraordinary service! This doesn't usually happen, so, Randi, we hope to see you lots! As always, we had a nice chat with Jared, swimming in the wonderful sunshine and savouring our San Jacinto mountain view, sipping wine between laps....
Then a bit of lunch, final unpacking, then off to Trader Joe's for a big shop....loads of wonderful goodies so lots to eat now. I will probably take some photos tomorrow of some of our purchases. It was beautiful balmy weather so sat out on our front patio listening to our fountain and Apple Music watching the hummingbirds, and sipping Lismore single malt Speyside ($16.99), then a $3.99 Spanish wine with a simple dinner of canned mackerel in sunflower oil (this is a keeper!), cheese, leftover chicken, bread, tomatoes, wonderful dip, and bread. And turkey stuffing flavour potato chips..very tasty. And finishing off with mango ice cream bars and these wonderful cookies Erna left us.
Does it get any better than this?
Well, maybe tomorrow when we go to Bill's Pizza for their $2 drinks and amazing pizza. Hey, Richard and Grace, Stan and Nicki, Brian and Susan, Chris and Susan, Dick and Susan...we wish you were all here to share this with us....we have had great times together at Bill's! And Linda and Cec....a pleasure deferred.
