"The Sense of an Ending" by Julian Barnes
I was annoyed when this novel which is really a novella won the Booker over Half-Blood Blues but I take it all back now that I've read it. It is short but very engaging and makes you think. I almost never re-read books but I almost feel like re-reading it right now!
