Inspired to paint

After looking at E.J. Hughes work again and some photos I have of Gabriola I think I will try to paint something. The things that attract me are the sandstone and the arbutus trees and also the fir trees, ocean, and mountain backgrounds to a lesser extent.

This is a view of the point at Taylor Bay which is right where Hughes takes his inspiration for the arbutus trees in the painting "Arbutus Trees on Gabriola" shown below.
