Upbeat news for once

Today's Desert Sun had lots of upbeat news today after weeks of dismal reporting on the economic crisis. Even the weather got better...the predicted cool front doesn't appear to be happening. Beautiful blue skies today and 74 F which "feels like" 79 F so perfect weather for me.

Desmond Tutu was speaking last night in Indian Wells. I always find his good sense and good humour uplifting and it's a tribute to what can happen in the US that a group of conservative Americans paid $285 a pop to hear him. Apparently the audience was very quiet when he praised Obama. I don't imagine too many people in the audience voted for him. I've linked to the article where you can also see a bit of video of an interview as well.

Other good news...the Supreme Court could overturn Proposition 8(same-sex marriage ban) sometime in the next 90 days. They began hearing the case today. It's a strange democracy when people can vote on taking away other people's rights.

And Obama gives details of the plan to help homeowners keep their houses.
