Paul McCartney's paintings...and Bard on the Beach

We've got tickets for "As You Like It". Bard is doing an interesting performance with lots of Beatles songs. It's almost sold out. Should be fun!

They're making lots of money on it and think it could even go to Broadway. Jim was at a talk today that Christopher Gage (Mr. Bard on the Beach) gave at Brock House. Jim will also be doing a presentation on the play and was asked to entertain the group today as Gage got tied up in traffic due to a fire on 4th Ave. Seems Jim sang a bit of "Under the Greenwood Tree" and they didn't bring out the hook to take him off stage...

So,  I guess we might conclude that his "lack of discipline" led to becoming a famous musician.  Where would we be without the Beatles!

Mahjong for the first time...and I actually won!

Donna very kindly and patiently gave myself and another friend of hers a Mahjong lesson today. It was all quite confusing initially but we sort of got it in the end. I won through no skill of my own believe me.

Monday at the beach

We took some wine in our water bottles and bought lunch at the concession and enjoyed watching all the folks enjoying themselves. The tide was way out so swimming wasn't a possibility but we did see lots of young people using skim boards in the pools that were created. Little kids playing in the sand and having a good time until the inevitable sand in the eyes incident...

Jim sitting in one of our beach chairs. I think these are the greatest invention...light to carry, very comfortable, and a drink holder. Does it get any better than this?

Rose Mallett in NYC

We have seen Rose a number of times at Woody's in PS and enjoy her shows.  Good on her for doing this NYC show which went very well.

Perfect...too many ferry lineups for me to count in my life....

This was no doubt the scene yesterday. Between all the trips to Gabriola Island and Vancouver Island..  But, many happy memories in both places.

Seeing red...

In "A Paris Year", Nichole Roberston's book, "Paris in Love" was mentioned.  Roberston is a photographer and took only photos in red in Paris for this book. VPL actually has it so I've put a hold on it. I thought this was a rather cool idea and as we walked to the food court yesterday I took photos of red.  Jim was hungry so this had to be done very quickly but I found an amazing number of possibilites on less than a 10 minute walk.

Update: And it was Canada Day so a red theme was particularly appropriate!  And I just had to add this one from Linda's blog today. They had lunch at their favourite pub yesterday and there was a special Canada Day burger being offered.  I think I would have tried it!

Richard and Grace move into their new digs

Richard sent me these photos today and to say they are "Moved in!  He sent a little video too but I don't know how to upload it.

View from their balcony...they are on the top floor.  We just love this view (The old Cannery Restaurant view) and can't wait to have a bar-b-q there with them!

But first of, course, all the dreaded boxes to unpack. We know all too much of this ourselves...
