Jim will soon be a British citizen!

This works out perfectly since we'll be in Vancouver on August 19!

So, wow, Jim can now work anywhere in the European Union...who knows where this might lead...

Subject: Citizenship Ceremony

Dear Mr Sexton,

I am writing to advise you that we have now received your Certificate of Registration as a British Citizen. The next step is that you are required to attend a small, informal citizenship ceremony at the British Consulate-General in Vancouver.

The dates of the next ceremonies are Thursday 12 and 19 August 2010. The ceremony will be at 11.00AM. You will be required to arrive at 10.45AM, and I will need to see one piece of photo ID, such as a Driver's Licence or a passport/ travel document. The fee for the ceremony is $136.00, which can be paid either by a Visa, MasterCard or debit. The ceremony requires that you either swear or affirm your allegiance to The Queen, as a British citizen. If you choose to swear, you would do so on the Bible or other Holy Book. The affirmation is a solemn declaration. Either one is fine, but I would appreciate it if you could confirm which one you prefer to do, so that I can prepare the relevant documents ahead of time. You are welcome to bring guests with you, or it is fine to come alone.

I would be most grateful if you could confirm your attendance at one of the above dates by return email. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours sincerely,

Gillian Blair
