Canyon Sands Bookclub

I just love my bookclub here.  Kathy had just come back from the Literary Women 2017 Long Beach Festival of Authors and talked about the presentations of all seven authors and had read a book by each of them.  She was particularly impressed by Cathleen Schine's "They may not mean to,  but they do" (a line from a Phillip Larkin poem) which combines dark comedy with astute observations of family dynamics.   My hold on this book is ready at the Rancho Mirage Library.

Our March topic:

Creating a festival of our own....imagining a gathering.  Among living women authors whom would you want to invite to a literary festival?

March is Women's History Month.  Sharing a favourite biography,  autobiography,  or memoir by or about a woman.

April topic:

National Library Week April 8-15.  For the April session,  let's share positive library experiences: childhood encounters,  favourite librarians, teen moments, parental pleasures, adult connections.  What is your history with libraries?  What has been your best library experience in the Coachella Valley?

Kathy's handouts for the March session.

And of course,  she kept the handouts for me for the sessions I missed!
