Stanley Park has so much history...wow!

History, Tea, and Tour

August 7 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

| $5/10
Gather at the Nature House for refreshments to recall the British High Tea society of old Vancouver during pre-WWI era. We’ll trace their route to the Park’s former “Entertainment Hub” to visit monuments, memorials, plaques, historic gardens and have an inside tour of the historic Stanley Park Pavilion, once the site of dancing and opulent dining.
This was a great event yesterday and the person who lead the tour was very knowledgeable and interesting.  We learned that the "hollow tree"  had a professional photographer there so people could always get their picture taken.  A sad part of that story was a photographer of German descent had his licence to do that revoked when WW II began.

We began with tea and cookies at the Nature House.

Just love this old tree that's a jungle gym for kids.

Vancouver Rowing Clubhouse

Stanley Park Pavillion....available only for special events but there is a restaurant there as well which looks like it would be a fun place to eat.

They were setting up for a wedding.  All the wood has been painted over.

This is a monument to commemorate President Harding's visit to Canada.

Theatre under the Stars.  Funny how both Jim and I remember going as kids and it was raining.

A cedar tree who bark has been stripped for making baskets,  etc.
