Dick and Susan arrive in the desert

Dick and Susan came over for dinner last night and it was so great to see them and so glad that the weather has warmed up for their arrival.  Two years ago when they came down PS was in a real cold spell and the airline lost Dick's golf clubs for four days!  All went well and Dick and Jim will play golf tomorrow…should be a perfect day…mid 70's.  They are staying in the same place they stayed in last time in Canyon Sands.  They brought over a great California Malbec that the owners had left for them.

We did our usual Bill's Pizza Monday and I managed to pry Jim away from our two favourites and get something different.  The trick is to begin to insist on the Blue Moon which has no meat then bait and switch to others that he can accept giving a try to.  We had had these before and even Jim had to admit we now have "four favourites".

Blue Moon
garlic infused olive oil sauce, blue cheese, caramelized onions, toasted walnuts & mozzarella cheese

Bacon Me Crazy
garlic infused olive oil sauce, cooked spinach, light four cheese, feta cheese, pepperoni, roasted garlic, smoked bacon, diced tomatoes, chili flakes, asiago & parmesan

Christine's Rocker Pizza
garlic infused olive oil sauce, sicilian sausage, caramelized onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, pepperoni & black olives

We saw this casting call.  I felt Jim could try for the Lead….he felt he could be the Bartender.

More on the wine.  I did say last night I thought it was rather amazing.  Well,  seems it was an award winner and cost $60.  Nice owners to leave that.   It seems they left two bottles of wine.  Ok,  Dick and Susan,  save that bottle to share with us!

Sounds like a pretty interesting winery:

I love the fact that the name of the winery is from a poem form I used to teach my students to write.  I taught this along with haiku and I see they have a "Haiku Red".  This is the poem for the winery:

Planted,
pruned, picked, and pressed,
all by hand, on our land,
we share our art form and passion,
with you.

This simple 5-line poem, called a Cinquain (pronounced sink-cane), embodies the spirit of Cinquain Cellars, from nurturing 10,000 vines on our estate vineyard, to crafting small lots of artisan wines for your pleasure and ours. We like to think of our wine as bottled poetry and hope you will agree.
