Mamma Mia...what great food!

We had dinner at a highly recommended Italian restaurant calle Vespaio that's in our area. Wow...it really was superb. The have a specials list as large as their menu so we chose off that. We began with Cioppina...a wonderful version of it with "big eye tuna..whatever that is", salmon, halibut, clams, mussels, and other goodies in a fabulous spicy red tomato sauce, then for a main course we had their special meat mixed grill. They smoke the meats themselves...bacon wrapped quail, ribeye, pork and served with the most wonderful shallot rings...like onion rings but with shallots, fava beans and roasted yukon gold potatoes to die for.

We had a great server and she gave us all sorts of other recommendations. In the paper yesterday there was a big feature on all the Cajun and Louisiana style restaurants with music that have become a big deal in Austin in the last few years.

It certainly is a sophisticated city for dining!
